Professional and well managed

Highwood’s Westergate scheme comprises 60 new one and two-bedroom apartments for rent and shared ownership, built for leading retirement housing care provider, Housing 21. Set in beautifully landscaped grounds in the Sussex countryside, a stunning range of services and facilities for the over 55s will be available on site, including a café, bistro, hair salon and communal lounge.

Considerate Constructors’ Monitor, John Evans, made a number of welcome observations during his site visit and a follow-up virtual meeting that was held due to COVID-19 restrictions.

‘Appearance is noted as excellent with the site continuing to provide a professional and well managed impression’, he reported. ‘Respect for the community is noted as excellent with informative newsletter updates to neighbours.

‘Safety appears to be at an excellent level – caring for the workforce was clearly very evident and the new required social distancing measures and processes appear to be very well understood with significant modifications to the procedures to assist in workforce wellbeing – the standard of cleaning to the facilities was excellent. This site is now performing at an excellent level in all categories of the Scheme code. Many congratulations on this result.’

The success of the Westergate Extra Care facility is down to the superb efforts of the Highwood team, including Graham Marshall, Project Manager, Matt Hess, Site Manager, and Jamie Callahan, Finishing Manager, who have worked hard to keep operations running seamlessly during a particularly challenging period.

The project is due for completion in December 2020 and the first residents are expected to move in during early 2021. You can read more about the scheme here.
