Highwood presented with Health and Safety Excellence award

Highwood has been recognised with an award for Health and Safety Excellence by HCS Safety, the Southampton-based provider of health and safety services, solutions and training.

‘This award is issued to members who achieve 100% in their Annual Review Meeting,’ explains Alec Arnold​, Health & Safety Consultant at HCS Safety Limited. ‘Reviews are held to audit the business with regard to the use and effectiveness of its health and safety management system. The award affirms the successful, continual approach taken by Highwood with regard to its health and safety matters and is something to be immensely proud of.’

Ironically, the award was presented to Steve Matthews, Construction Director at Highwood, just a week before the country was placed into lockdown as the coronavirus pandemic took hold and health and safety immediately became the focus of our operations.

Now, as safety continues to drive Highwood’s construction strategy, Steve reveals how critical a watertight health and safety policy is to every organisation’s operations, particularly when a healthcare crisis unfolds, as in the case of COVID-19.
