Highwood has been shortlisted for a prestigious 2022 Solent Quality Place Award for three key elements of its landmark North Stoneham Park development in Eastleigh. The news means the Park is now one of just seven schemes to be in the running for the coveted People’s Choice Award.
Voting has now opened for the public to cast their votes on their favourite site that has been selected by judges of the Solent Quality Place Awards. The placemaking awards have recognised beautiful and thoughtfully designed developments across the Solent region since 2010.
Judges admired Highwood’s fantastic mixed-use Park development that’s set on a historic former deer park in Eastleigh and represents many years’ collaboration between Highwood, landowners, stakeholders, environmentalists, conservationists and historians. The panel was particularly impressed with the new, multi-purpose overlooked parks and green links that reflect its historic character. The green open spaces also provide a valuable resource for residents and the wider community alongside the Park’s enhanced ecological habitats and new sustainable drainage.
Steve Matthews, Managing Director of Highwood commented: ‘It’s a real honour to have been selected for this placemaking award from around 20 schemes across the Solent region. While being selected is a huge achievement, getting votes from the people who enjoy the Park would be recognition indeed. Thank you to anyone who supports us by voting.’
This the sixth edition of the Solent Quality Place Awards that are run by Partnership for South Hampshire (PfSH). The awards seek to highlight placemaking excellence in developments that contribute to improving the economic, social, cultural and environmental life of those in the Solent region.
Councillor Sean Woodward, Chairman of the Partnership for South Hampshire added: ‘Hampshire, the Isle of Wight and the Solent area are wonderful places to live, and this category of the Solent Quality Award is all about letting the people who live and work in these places and spaces choose the best design and place which most inspires them. Good luck to all our worthy finalists.’
Voting is open until 3rd October – cast your vote here.
