Highwood’s runners help Romsey Primary School’s children take centre stage
On a very hot day in June 2023, a team of nine runners from Highwood ran the Romsey Relay Marathon and raised almost £800 for Romsey Primary School. Highwood and the school have enjoyed a rewarding relationship for some time, beginning when a team of intrepid volunteers gave up their time to build an impressive outdoor classroom to enrich the way the children learn while connecting with nature.
As a result of this year’s marathon efforts, the 340 children at the school now have a superb collection of audio visual equipment to support their stage productions. The school invested in a lighting rig, boundary microphones, dynamic vocal microphones, conductor stands, cables and even a fog machine.
The equipment played a starring role in the KS2 summer production of ‘Let the Games Begin!’, which was a great success with standing-room early performances for the parents.
