Horsham District Council resolves to grant planning permission for Highwood’s 60-bed care home and bungalows in Storrington
Horsham District Council has resolved to grant planning permission for Highwood’s development of a new 60-bed care home and eight, age-related bungalows in Storrington, West Sussex, for respected care partner, Barchester Healthcare.
As with many of Highwood’s projects, this type of development is much needed in the context of our ageing and growing population, but it has taken around two years to reach this stage, despite being a previously-developed, brownfield site.
The delay was, in part, due to the need for Highwood to overcome the local issue of water neutrality. Highwood’s team embarked on an extensive and, ultimately, successful process to research and secure innovative solutions that would satisfy the Local Planning Authority and Natural England.

A meticulous planning process
