North Stoneham Park’s community centre opens
The Park’s local centre that will serve as the heart of Highwood’s award-winning community development has officially opened and welcomed its first customers. The centre is managed and operated by YMCA, who will also run the children’s day nursery.
As well as a fabulous selection of delicious food and drinks that are now being served daily in the café, there’s a packed programme of activity for all ages, which kicked off this morning with an energetic Boogie Bounce class in the hall.
Tilly Johnson is the YMCA’s Centre Manager and is looking forward to seeing the new facilities come to life with residents from the Park and close by.
‘This superb space now his already bustling with people,’ said Tilly as she served customers from the well-stocked counter. ‘There’s so much for everyone to do here and it’s a great place for family and friends to meet up. There’s plenty of parking and it’s just a walk from the new homes so we’re expecting the centre to be a vibrant and convenient place to get together.’
The centre will also be home to the 11th Eastleigh Scout Group, which will meet for the first time at its new home this week and the nursery children who will move over to their three fabulous nursery rooms after half term next month. Upstairs a divisible meeting room is available for hire by businesses and those wanting to host events. The centre also holds a licence to serve alcohol for parties.
