Highwood hands over prestigious Botley care home scheme during lockdown
Highwood has formally handed over our prestigious Snowdrop Place Care Home scheme to leading care partner, Barchester Healthcare – a hugely significant achievement given construction took place during one of the most challenging periods in the industry’s history.
The 68-bed purpose-built residential care home in Botley, near Southampton, was built by Highwood for Frontier Estates, a leading UK healthcare sector development partner.
Superlative efforts of all teams involved
Despite the constraints of operating on site throughout the Covid-19 lockdown with complex safety measures and working restrictions to navigate, the project remained firmly on course at every stage. This was thanks to the superlative efforts of all teams involved in the build phase as Steve Matthews, Managing Director of Highwood, explained.
‘We’re delighted to have achieved practical completion on schedule,’ said Steve. ‘Praise must certainly go to the teams at Highwood, Frontier Estates, the consultant teams and supply chain who collaborated so effectively to achieve this handover with such great success during these unprecedented times.’
First residents expect this spring
Snowdrop Place, which will specialise in 24-hour dementia care, will now proceed to fit out in advance of welcoming its first residents this spring. Barchester Healthcare has ensured viewings of the new facilities, which include a cinema, activities café, salon and spa bathrooms, are conducted with a raft of measures in place to keep visitors and on-site teams safe.
