A topping-out ceremony has been held at Highwood’s North Stoneham Park community scheme to mark the completion of the highest point of the build of the exciting new retirement living development Highwood is constructing for leading care partner, Housing 21.
Summergate Lodge will offer 25 one and two-bedroom apartments for rent and shared ownership. All are designed to suit the needs of those aged 65 and over who want a more independent way of life in the Park’s superb community setting where a local centre, shops and café are just a short walk away. Indeed, two shops on the ground floor of the building that Highwood will retain will represent the first retail units to be delivered at North Stoneham Park.
The development’s construction milestone was celebrated by teams from Highwood and Housing 21 and Eastleigh Borough Councillor and Cabinet Lead for Social Policy, Tina Campbell, who was quick to praise the partnership project that will be officially handed over early this summer.
‘I am delighted to see this new retirement housing scheme,’ she explained. ‘It will provide independent living for our older residents and provides another important part of the evolving community at North Stoneham.’
The Summergate Lodge project, which has steadfastly remained on track with safe operating measures in place throughout the coronavirus pandemic, is the second retirement living scheme Highwood is developing for Housing 21 in a partnership that continues to go from strength to strength.
‘It’s been a pleasure working with Housing 21 on this project,’ revealed Ashley Beckett, Project Director for Highwood Homes. ‘We’re delighted construction has remained on track despite the challenging times we’re currently facing. It’s the second project we’ve collaborated on with Housing 21 and we’re very much looking forward to another successful handover in early summer.’
Paul Tewksbury, Housing 21’s Head of Retirement Living (South region) echoed the vitality the scheme will bring.
‘We’re delighted to reach this important milestone in the development of Summergate Lodge,’ he said. ‘The scheme will provide much needed homes for older people in the area.’
The new retirement living scheme will be welcoming new residents this summer – expressions of interest should be directed to the Housing 21 New Home team. To find out more about Highwood’s inspirational portfolio of retirement living, care home and care village developments, please click here.
