FIRST PHASE OF STONEHAM PARK GETS UNDERWAY
The first stage of the Stoneham Park community development officially got underway when the Mayor of Eastleigh Cllr Mo Sollitt was on hand to dig the first area of land along Stoneham Lane.
The first phase of the new community at a site south of Chestnut Avenue and west of Stoneham Lane, Eastleigh will include 560 homes that are made up of a mix on 1,2,3 4 and 5 bedroom homes. Some 200 of the new homes will be affordable, i.e. allocated for rent and shared ownership through Vivid housing association. 146 new homes are being purchased by the council and will be managed by VIVID (formerly First Wessex) social housing provider and will be available for rent and will provide the Council with an ongoing income.
In addition to the residential development this application includes a new ‘Avenue Park’ open space in the centre of the site with two children’s play areas, green corridor links through the development, together with a number of smaller areas of open space and play provision. There will also be pedestrian and cycle links across the site some of which will follow the routes of historic carriage drives. Key to the development is the construction of the new link road that will run between Chestnut Avenue and Stoneham Lane.
