Highwood’s Moorhill Care Home shortlisted at the Healthcare Design Awards 2026
Moorhill Care Home, one of Highwood’s flagship care developments of the year, has been shortlisted in the Best Architectural Design – Care Home category at the Healthcare Design Awards 2026.
The scheme is likely to have stood out for its thoughtful, resident-centred approach and strong response to local need. Set within landscaped grounds bordering Telegraph Woods, the project delivers much-needed specialist accommodation for older people across the Southampton region. Designed in partnership with Hartford Care and funded by Octopus Real Estate’s Health Fund, Moorhill combines high-quality living spaces with a therapeutic environment, generous communal areas and a close proximity to nature and green spaces.
Sustainability also played a defining role in the design. The project achieved BREEAM Excellent and EPC A ratings and performed exceptionally well in its Whole Life Carbon Assessment, demonstrating Highwood’s commitment to delivering future-ready, low-carbon care environments. These qualities are likely to have resonated with the judging panel, who value design innovation and environmental performance.
