Following a 15-year association with a site acquired by Highwood in 2007 and sold in 2009, we were contracted by leading care partner, Barchester Healthcare, to build a high-end 64-bed care home. Shawford Springs Care Home in Otterbourne on the outskirts of Winchester has now welcomed its first residents.
With all four completed care projects in the hands of our care partners, attention is now focussed on the imminent handover of the first phase of our landmark Horndean care and retirement development. Our best-in-class 60-bed care home will be handed over to Barchester Healthcare in May. The second phase of this exciting strategic land and development scheme comprises 120 retirement dwellings for award-winning retirement village operator, Inspired Villages. The development will be a groundbreaking net-zero retirement community.
“It’s been incredibly satisfying to hand over this latest raft of care home projects,” said Steve Matthews, Managing Director of Highwood. “The successful culmination of all five schemes is a direct reflection of the close working relationships we continue to enjoy with our care partners.
“Credit must of course be given to the project teams whose meticulous work and attention to detail have delivered quality homes of which we and our partners can be proud. We’re now looking ahead to the summer when more of our care projects, including two exciting neuro care units, edge closer to fruition.”
