An 80-bed luxury care home set on the outskirts of Southampton

Highwood has officially handed over a prestigious 80-bed care home at Adanac Park in Southampton to trusted partner, Hamberley Development.  The scheme was the latest in a series of high profile care home projects that are today operated by leading care operator, Hamberley Care Homes.

The care home site is set on former agricultural land on the outskirts of Nursling and a short distance to the east of the M271 that leads into Southampton and the M27 motorway. Highwood also constructed and delivered a pioneering neurological rehabilitation centre on the same site with Hamberley Development for Hamberley Neurocare simultaneously.

Highly specified, inside and out

This high-end care home provides accommodation over three storeys with day spaces and safe, enclosed landscaped gardens. An impecably specified interior design scheme has been carried through the extensive communal areas that feature a quiet room, hair salon, lounges and dining rooms, a café along with family and activity rooms.

Both the care home and neuro unit were constructed of a predominantly traditional tiled pitch roof and a mixture of brick and rainscreen cladding. They feature habitable space within the roof void and sunken open plant wells that provide plant space. Outside, each building incorporates an internal courtyard that has created a private garden area alongside beautiful, landscaped grounds for residents to enjoy. Extensive on-site car parking is available for use by residents, staff and visitors.

A new 56-bed neurological rehab unit on the same site

The adjacent neuro rehab facility that Highwood built for Hamberley Neurocare comprises 57 en suite bedrooms and a spacious, self-contained independent living apartment. The unit also houses a physiotherapy gym, medical consulting rooms, lounges, dining rooms and a café bar to suit the needs of those living with complex care needs. Work on the care home began early in 2023 and was completed in 2024.
