Planning granted for Highwood’s new 70-bed care home in West End village
Planning consent has been granted for Highwood’s new 70-bed care home in West End village on the outskirts of Southampton. Our proposals comprised the development of a new, state-of-the-art care home set within beautiful, landscaped grounds in Moorhill Road bordering Telegraph Woods, a popular, 50-acre public woodland.
The prestigious care scheme will be the second project in Highwood’s collaboration with Octopus Real Estate’s flagship Octopus Health Fund and Hartford Care, the leading UK care provider. The first project in the partnership is the 67-bed care home with retirement apartments and a new landscaped public gateway space for Alton, planning for which was granted in June.
Eastleigh Borough Council’s planners approved the Moorhill plans, which will help to ease the growing shortage of care home beds in the region. With a BREEAM Excellent-rating, the care home will provide high-end living accommodation and communal spaces with nurse and medical stations, health and beauty rooms, dining rooms and a café.
