Highwood’s care home portfolio has been substantially bolstered following the completion of four high profile projects and the handover of a fifth due in the coming weeks. Two of the projects were handed over to Cinnamon Care Collection, Highwood’s long-term trusted care partner and one of Carehome.co.uk’s Top 20 Large Care Home Groups for the 6th year running.
Heathland House is a first-class 59-bed care home with seven luxury care suites in Ferndown, Dorset. Cinnamon’s scheme was designed to enable residents to live independently in magnificent surroundings alongside 24-hour residential care and specialist dementia care within the care operator’s usual high-specification interiors and community spaces.
Another luxury care home recently handed over to Cinnamon was Lakeview Grange, which is set close to the A27 in Chichester. The new three-story care home was built on the 0.25-hectare site of the former Abbas Combe Nursing home that was built in 1962. Lakeview Grange has 47 spacious en suite bedrooms and four luxury care suites with specialist 24-hour residential care and superb facilities for those looking to lead fulfilling, independent lifestyles.
Alston House, a prestigious 80-bed care home, was built by Highwood on the site of the old Eastleigh Police Station on the town’s Leigh Road. Built for established development partner, Hamberley, RDT Architects successfully preserved the integrity of the original building that was built in 1924 and listed.
Following a 15-year association with a site acquired by Highwood in 2007 and sold in 2009, we were contracted by leading care partner, Barchester Healthcare, to build a high-end 64-bed care home. Shawford Springs Care Home in Otterbourne on the outskirts of Winchester has now welcomed its first residents.
With all four completed care projects in the hands of our care partners, attention is now focussed on the imminent handover of the first phase of our landmark Horndean care and retirement development. Our best-in-class 60-bed care home will be handed over to Barchester Healthcare in May. The second phase of this exciting strategic land and development scheme comprises 120 retirement dwellings for award-winning retirement village operator, Inspired Villages. The development will be a groundbreaking net-zero retirement community.
“It’s been incredibly satisfying to hand over this latest raft of care home projects,” said Steve Matthews, Managing Director of Highwood. “The successful culmination of all five schemes is a direct reflection of the close working relationships we continue to enjoy with our care partners.
“Credit must of course be given to the project teams whose meticulous work and attention to detail have delivered quality homes of which we and our partners can be proud. We’re now looking ahead to the summer when more of our care projects, including two exciting neuro care units, edge closer to fruition.”
