STEVE MATTHEWS, HIGHWOOD'S MANAGING DIRECTOR (RIGHT) PRESENTS A CHEQUE TO MALCOLM YOUNG, DEPUTY DISTRICT COMMISSIONER WATCHED BY PARENTS AND MEMBERS OF THE NEW SCOUT GROUP

Kickstarting an amazing programme of activities

‘We are incredibly excited to be developing the newest scout group in the UK here at North Stoneham Park,’ said Hannah. ‘The Group is growing fast from the heart of the North Stoneham community and the enthusiasm shown by both our young people and adult volunteers has been wonderful to witness.

‘Over the past 18 months our children have had their lives turned upside down throughout the pandemic and all have shown remarkable strength and resilience. We feel they deserve all the adventure that we can offer here and this generous donation from Highwood means we can kickstart an amazing programme of activities.’

The Park’s new local centre opens on 17th May

The new local centre will officially celebrate its opening on 17th May, when the café will welcome visitors with a superb selection of hot and cold drinks, pastries and cakes. In the meantime, the nursery children will move into their beautiful new facilities from their temporary base in classrooms at the neighbouring Stoneham Park Academy, where high quality care has been provided to children ages from five months to five years by the YMCA.
