A new collection of apartments and houses set in the grounds of a former mansion

Highwood successfully secured planning consent to develop the Old Mansion Site in December 2020 with unanimous support from Test Valley Southern Area Planning Committee.

The plans detailed a superb collection of one and two-bedroom apartments and three and four-bedroom luxury houses in a prestigious development set within the beautiful grounds of the former old mansion to the south of the Stoneham site in Eastleigh, Hampshire.  The site comprises approximately 26 acres and is set within the former grounds of a huge mansion that was built and owned by dynastic Fleming family dating back to at least 1638.

Set in an idyllic location

We proposed a collection of substantial three and four-bedroom homes and one and two-bedroom apartments that would be approached via an impressive private road leading to a fabulous parkland setting. These stunning properties were designed with generous proportions and set in an idyllic location adjacent to the beautiful Stoneham Golf Course and near the tranquil fishing ponds to the south.

The development was inspired by the early 20th century homes designed by British architect, Herbert Collins, which are well known in the area. When complete, the new homes will be approached by an impressive private road leading to a parkland setting rich with landscaped open spaces, mown paths and walkways.

Shortlisted for Best Housing Scheme

The new homes are set around a village green with a pond and arranged as The Mansion Apartments, The Courtyard, The Square, Woodland View and Lakeside View. Plans for our scheme were praised by Council planners and committee members for their design quality, represent the culmination of a seven-year promotion by the Highwood team.

The Old Mansion Site scheme achieved critical success in 2022 when it was names Best Residential Development at the South Coast Property Awards. It was also recognised by national planning awards judges with a shortlisting for HGP Architects in the Award for Best Housing Scheme (Fewer than 500 Homes) at the Planning Awards 2020.

Development on the site commenced in 2022.
