Highwood has secured the largest ever strategic land site in our history

Highwood has secured a substantial parcel of land that lies north of the Hampshire village of Fair Oak and covered by the Strategic Growth Option (SGO) which forms part of Eastleigh’s Local Plan for Fair Oak and Bishopstoke.

The Eastleigh SGO land promotion and the development of some 5200 new homes means that Highwood has secured the largest ever strategic site in our history – and that of Eastleigh Borough Council and, indeed, since the Local Plan approach was initiated. Eastleigh Borough Council’s SGO refers to the Local Plan that will be adopted at the end of 2019 and will remain in force until 2036 to provide a new infrastructure and much-need housing for the local community.

Eastleigh’s Local Plan will be examined during hearings that will begin soon

The Plan covers the land to the north and east of Fair Oak and Bishopstoke and will provide 5200 new homes and a new link road north of Allbrook, Bishopstoke and Fair Oak villages; Highwood’s allocation extends to 4000 of these new properties. The associated link road will connect these villages to Junction 12 of the M3 motorway.

Eastleigh’s Local Plan is now due to be examined by the government’s planning inspector over six weeks of hearings that will begin in November 2019. Further updates will follow – to stay up to date with developments, please subscribe to our news.
