At a time when many property industry organisations are battling market uncertainty, Highwood has once again bucked the trend and exceeded expectation with an impressive ranking of 34th in the Sunday Times BDO Profit Track 100.
Celebrating the publication of its 20th annual league table, the Profit Track 100 is compiled by Fast Track and ranks Britain’s 100 private companies with the fastest-growing profits over their last three years. The news is published every year as a much-vaunted supplement in the Sunday Times and, this year, recognises firms with sales from £10m to £350m, staff from 20 to 1,000 and with average three-year profit growth ranging from 50 percent to 170 percent.
Highwood’s inclusion on the list follows our enviable ranking on the 2018 Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100 table and was due to an outstanding annual profit growth of almost 80 percent. With sales already hitting a prized £100m, 2019 is looking as though it will more than simply usurp the fortunes of last year.
Since January, Highwood has competed on an international stage at this year’s BREEAM Awards 2019, being Highly Commended for the North Stoneham Park community project and coming second only to the UK’s landmark Hoover Building in London in the Homes – Post Construction Stage category. This month we were announced as a finalist in the Growth Story of the Year category in the Business Magazine’s Solent 250 Awards and, as this year’s awards season beckons, we have every reason to feel confident, as Nigel Meek, one of Highwood’s founding directors, reveals.
‘We’ve demonstrated a resourcefulness and diligence that has seen us through some difficult times,’ he explains. ‘Even in the most volatile of markets, we’ve remained adept at devising solutions that meet the needs of communities, from resolving infrastructure and transport problems to answering the calls from local plans and supporting government initiatives to help the market flourish.
‘Our core strengths lie in design and planning and fostering relationships that make a difference when it comes to the success of a scheme. We’re also blessed with a remarkable team of property professionals who consistently deliver superb results for Highwood and ensure we’re best placed to retain our competitive edge.’
The Highwood team is now looking forward to celebrating its Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100 success with a conference and awards dinner at the Branson’s family home this month, followed by a dinner to mark the Sunday Times BDO Profit Track 100 awards event in June at London’s Savoy Hotel.
