Highwood has been recognised for its outstanding property development quality with two high profile awards at the LABC Building Excellence Awards 2017 ceremony.
The annual awards are made by Local Authority Building and Control (LABC), which represents all local authority building control teams in England and Wales and acknowledge the achievements of building professionals.
Highwood won Finalist in Best High Volume New Housing Development and was crowned Winner of Best Inclusive Building for its Wellesley Court high-end, 80-bedroom care home development in Waterlooville.
‘We’re delighted to have been recognised at the LABC Awards,’ commented Guy Hayward, Managing Director of Highwood Construction. ‘The Wellesley Court care home development was one of our most successful retirement and care projects that has provided luxurious care accommodation for its residents. We worked with both PDP Architects and Havant Borough Council to create a scheme that would enhance the former MDA site and deliver a superior later years residence that remains unsurpassed in the area.’
The three-storey care home was constructed in a contemporary style using a considered mix of modern and traditional materials on a timber frame and is set within extensive landscaped gardens. It lies adjacent to another Highwood later years development of 48 extra care apartments that, like Wellesley Court, form part of the larger MDA site.
The awards ceremony was held at The Grand in Brighton and attended by members of Highwood Construction and PDP Architects who designed this magnificent building.
