Highwood is supporting the launch of the new Hiltingbury Recreation Ground junior parkrun, a free weekly 2km event designed to inspire children and families to get active in a fun, welcoming environment.
Taking place at Hiltingbury Recreation Ground, the event has reached an important milestone, with fundraising now complete thanks to the backing of Highwood and other local sponsors. Preparations are well underway ahead of a planned launch mid-May.
The course has been officially measured and approved, a full volunteer team is in place and all Run and Event Directors have completed their training with parkrun UK. Final preparations have included practical sessions at nearby events and a trial run.
The Hiltingbury Recreation Ground junior parkrun will offer a safe, inclusive space for children aged 4–14 to enjoy regular outdoor activity, helping to build confidence, wellbeing and a sense of community.
“This is exactly the kind of community initiative we’re keen to support,” said Natalie Brown, Financial Director at Highwood. “It’s a simple but powerful way to encourage children and families to spend time outdoors, build confidence and stay active. We’re delighted to have played a part in helping bring the event to life and look forward to seeing it become a well-loved part of the local community.”

“Reaching our fundraising target was a huge milestone,” revealed Paul Brewer, Event Director at Hiltingbury Recreation Ground junior parkrun. “We’re incredibly grateful to Highwood and all our sponsors for their support.
“Everything is now coming together behind the scenes and we’re excited to welcome our first runners very soon. This is a real community effort and we’re looking forward to seeing local families enjoy it together.”
With final preparations now underway, the event team is working towards the big launch, bringing a new community-led initiative to the heart of Hiltingbury.
