London calling as Highwood’s marathon runners prepare for the big day
Highwood has two runners in this year’s Virgin Money London Marathon 2021 that’s taking place on Sunday 3rd October.
Both Simon Beech, Land and Sales Director, and Anthony Rouse, Development Manager, have been training hard in readiness for what will be Simon’s second and Anthony’s first marathon challenge.
Simon ran the virtual London Marathon last year when the city event was cancelled due to Covid and raised an amazing £2,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support. This year he was lucky enough to secure a ballot place and will be looking for a personal best as he joins his 100,000 fellow runners in what is set to be the biggest marathon ever staged anywhere in the world.
Anthony will be running for HCPT – The Pilgrimage Trust, a charity that he has been an active volunteer with for over 10 years. HCPT offers pilgrimage holidays to Lourdes in France giving disabled and disadvantaged children and young people the trips of a lifetime and much-needed respite to the families who need it most. Sadly, trips in 2020 and 2021 were cancelled due to the Covid pandemic, so the focus now is on raising money for a 2022 pilgrimage to Lourdes.
