Highwood’s marathon legend raises over £14,500 for charity
The fundraising has been going strong and we’re delighted to announce that Highwood’s Development Manager, Anthony Rouse, has raised an incredible £14,510 for charity following his epic efforts in his first ever London Marathon, with Highwood donating £1,000 to the worthy cause.
Anthony conquered the 26.2 mile route to raise money for HCPT Group 170, a charity he’s been actively volunteering with for the last 10 years. The group is part of HCPT, a registered charity offering pilgrimage holidays to Lourdes in the south of France, specifically for disabled or disadvantaged children and vulnerable adults from around the UK and further afield.
Every year HCPT takes thousands of children, many of them with disabilities or life limiting conditions, to enjoy a holiday of a lifetime. The charity travel in small family-sized groups with prepared volunteer helpers, like Anthony, as well as medical professionals. The trips provide a fun and safe week in Lourdes with lots of crafts, games and activities. Crucially, they also give much needed respite to the families who need it most.
The cost to send a child to Lourdes is just over £1,000, so Anthony’s colossal efforts have raised enough to take 14 children on a life-changing pilgrimage to Lourdes.
