As part of Highwood’s commitment to supporting those who live in or visit the areas our projects touch, we’ve donated £5,000 from our Community Fund to two local causes that will help support families and raise awareness for good causes.
The Highwood Community Fund designates £5,000 for every project to a community scheme – in this case, our contribution will come via the specialist dementia care home scheme we’re building for Brackley Investments in Littlehampton, West Sussex. £2,500 from the Littlehampton project fund has now been donated to West Sussex County Council’s Early Help service that provides vital ‘whole family’ support for those who need it most in the Arun region as Rea Painter, Service Manager – Early Help at West Sussex Council, has revealed.
“As the Early Help service, we will use the vouchers to support families in Arun who are experiencing crisis and need support,” said Rea. “They will be able to purchase food, clothing, toys and school uniform with the vouchers. Thank you again for your support and kindness, it will reach many of our most vulnerable families.”
“It’s an uncomfortable truth that agencies like the Early Help Service are woefully underfunded, despite the invaluable support they provide,” commented Jessica Forte, People and ESG Director at Highwood. “Receiving extremely minimal funding, the team really does rely on donations from local resources and national charitable networks – but it’s simply not enough to support everyone that needs it. If you want to discover how your organisation’s social value agenda can help ease that burden, reaching out to your local council’s social services department will give you the answers you need.”
Highwood also donated £2,500 from the Littlehampton Community Fund to support the 2023 Chichester Pride Festival that was held this summer. This was only the second Pride festival the city had hosted and sponsorship helps us make a positive impact on the individuals and communities in the Chichester area.
Contributions to Chichester Pride also ensure organisers can help keep ticket prices as low as possible and attract even more visitors to this superb annual event.
“Highwood’s Community Fund initiative has enabled us to make a difference to a number of our projects’ local residents and visitors in recent years,” said Jessica. “Our Littlehampton Fund illustrates exactly how organisations can embed positive impact into their operations and send a clear message of the ways they can support diversity, inclusion and welfare for everyone.”
