We have now exchanged land contracts on the proposed North Stoneham care village we are building for leading care provider and trusted care partner, Cinnamon Retirement Living; a joint planning application is being prepared with submission due in mid-October. The proposed care village comprises a prestigious 7000 sq.m., mansion-style building that pays homage to the site’s heritage and will offer 42 luxurious, high quality care suites along with a wealth of fabulous facilities, including a restaurant, impressive lounges, spa, salon and swimming pool and enviable communal spaces.

The state-of-the-art care village will offer a wide range of care packages to its residents and will also extend to 40 assisted living units and up to 89 care apartments. Together with the care home, the new homes will sit within acres of landscaped gardens and represent a safe, stylish and secure lifestyle for those in their later years. Construction is scheduled to commence in spring/summer 2020.

‘We’ve reached an exciting phase in the development of North Stoneham Park,’ revealed Simon Beech, Land and Sales Director at Highwood. ‘Our residents, both those who have already moved in here and those considering their move, can now see how the new facilities within the wider Park project are offering a fantastic way of life with everything they need on their doorstep.

‘These additional community amenities also extend to superb sporting and leisure facilities and are on a scale that’s exceptional for the borough – together they represent a magnificent investment in the local area that will benefit everyone who lives at the Park and across Eastleigh.’

In the meantime, construction by main contractor, Morgan Sindall, is underway at the Park’s new £6.3m school, Stoneham Park Primary Academy. The 315-place school, which is sponsored by the University of Winchester Academy Trust, will open its doors to children in September 2020 term in a 1.5 form entry that will later extend to a two-form entry.

We have also formally completed on the Park’s new combined community and nursery building that we are constructing for Eastleigh Borough Council. We’re delighted to enter into contract with the council on this project, which will see the delivery of a purpose-built centre that will be open to the community and include a new nursery for up to 90 children. Both community centre and nursery will be operated by the renowned YMCA and the building should be operational and taking placement bookings for the nursery next year in the autumn, which may coincide with the opening of the new  school.

Finally, we have also entered into a contract with Housing 21, a leading not-for-profit provider of retirement housing, to build 26 age-restricted apartments and two retail units that will be retained by our commercial investment company, CKS Property Investments. This is the second scheme we have entered into with Housing 21, having agreed terms to deliver 60 extra care apartments at its Westergate site earlier this year. The scheme at North Stoneham Park will offer much-needed affordable retirement properties to the local community in a truly sustainable location. The 18-month build plan will commence in November.

This series of build projects represents an exciting chapter in the Park’s progress as residents continue to make their move into the coveted Homewood and Avenue Park developments, which are rapidly being transformed into flourishing new neighbourhoods that have captured the imagination of homebuyers from across the region.
