Every year, the Inside Housing Development Awards provide an opportunity for landlords, developers and architects to nominate the UK’s best developments and teams for recognition. If successful in its categories, the multi-award-winning North Stoneham Park will be one of the most celebrated projects ever delivered on the south coast as Nigel Meek, Highwood’s Chief Executive Officer, points out.

‘The Park project has been many years in the making,’ he explains. ‘It was a particularly ambitious scheme that called on the expertise and ingenuity of our entire team and that of our development partner, VIVID. To receive so many accolades for the quality and sustainability of our construction, the calibre of our vision for transforming this historic parcel of land and our ability to meet the area’s housing need makes us incredibly proud.’

Construction at the Park has already reshaped the area to dramatic effect, thanks largely to its intelligent infrastructure scheme that has harnessed local transport links and created a seamless road network around the site. The much-needed housing provision is being met with a stunning range of community facilities, including a school, nursery, retail centre, commercial building and a proposed care village.

Councillor Keith House, from Eastleigh Borough Council paid tribute to the progress made by Highwood’s development team.

’We’re delighted to see how the Park is taking shape in line with the vision we had planned at the start of this process,’ he said. ‘The work to transform the site into a beautifully landscaped setting for the Park’s residents whilst retaining its historic parkland features is exactly what we’d all hoped to achieve. We’re excited to see how the construction phases that are scheduled for the coming months, especially on the local centre, will enhance North Stoneham Park further still.’

Highwood’s Partner, VIVID, has also expressed its delight at how the Park has, again, attracted the recognition of the housing industry.

Julie Porter, Head of Development says, ‘North Stoneham Park is a truly iconic development and it’s great to see it being recognised industry wide. We identified the site for development to help address the shortfall of homes in the local area. Working with Highwood, we’ve been able to sustainably transform 120 acres of unused parkland into a picturesque community of 1,100 properties including affordable homes at a range of rental levels, shared ownership and market sale homes – ensuring the Park offers something for everyone.’

This year’s Inside Housing Development Award winners will be announced at a gala awards ceremony that will be held on 27th November at the Intercontinental O2 Hotel in London.
