Highwood and Hamberley mark highest point at care home with topping-out ceremony
Alston House, a brand-new luxury care home being constructed by Highwood at the former Eastleigh Police Station has reached its full height. The event was marked by a traditional ‘topping out’ ceremony, with specialist care partner Hamberley Development.
Set to open in autumn 2022, Alston House, which will be operated by the award-winning Hamberley Care Homes, will provide 80 resident bedrooms located in a purpose-built new care home and four extra care apartments positioned in the original and refurbished Eastleigh Police Station building.
Specifically designed for elderly and dementia residents, the Covid-secure care home will feature all en-suite bedrooms over four floors with some boasting private balconies. Each floor provides communal living areas, dining rooms and quiet spaces with additional residents’ facilities such as a cinema room, gymnasium, dedicated activity areas, hair salon, entrance plaza with internet zone, boutique café and wine bar, and a private dining room for residents to enjoy small parties or get-togethers. There is also a Covid-secure visitation suite, the Family & Friends Lounge.
The development’s construction milestone was celebrated by teams from Highwood, partner Hamberley Development Ltd and representatives from the agent, Fed3 Projects, fund monitor, McBains, and funder, Bank Leumi.
