Highwood breaks ground on state-of-the-art neurological care development at Adanac Park
Highwood has joined forces with leading care partner, Hamberley Development, and Hamberley Neurocare to break ground on the site of a pioneering new neurological rehabilitation centre at Adanac Park in Nursling, Southampton.
Leading medics and clinicians joined the project team to celebrate the first dig at what will be one of the most advanced neurological rehabilitation centres in the South of England. The new centre is set adjacent to a new 80-bed luxury care home that Highwood is also building for Hamberley.
The new neurological facility will support the University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust that’s based close to the site and the University of Southampton. It will provide rehabilitation, long-term, respite and palliative care for people with brain and spinal injuries as well as neurodegenerative conditions, including Parkinson’s and Huntington’s.
The centre looks set to be a jewel in the crown of Highwood’s specialist care portfolio as Andy Stevenson, Construction Director at Highwood, revealed.

Setting a new standard
Michelle Kudhail, Director of Specialist Services for Hamberley Neurocare agreed the new centre would set a new standard for neurological rehabilitation services in the region.
She said: ‘We are delighted to finally break ground on what will be one of the most advanced neurological rehabilitation services in the South of England. This project has been a long-time in the making and so it’s wonderful to see all of our local partners here today for this important milestone. We very much look forward to working with University Hospital Southampton, the University of Winchester and the University of Southampton research and education teams.
