An exciting new care home for West End village for leading care partner, Hartford Care

Highwood’s new 70-bed care home is being developed on previously brownfield land in landscaped grounds in Moorhill Road bordering Telegraph Woods, a popular, 50-acre public woodland. The project represents another collaboration with Octopus Real Estate’s flagship Octopus Health Fund and Hartford Care, the leading UK care provider.

The scheme, which was approved by Eastleigh Borough Council’s planners in August 2023, will provide modern, specialist care accommodation for older people. It will also answer the ever-growing demand for care home facilities across the Eastleigh Borough and Southampton area.

With a BREEAM Excellent-rating, the new care home will provide high-end living accommodation and a wealth of communal spaces and medical facilities. The building will be constructed with a natural, timber-scale cladding finish as a stunning U-shaped complex giving external terraces panoramic views of the neighbouring woodland and landscaped gardens.

A successful public consultation

The proposals for the scheme were shared in a public consultation during June 2022 – the response was overwhelmingly positive and the application was subsequently supported by Eastleigh Borough Council’s planners.

The new three-storey care home will be supported by a superb range of communal facilities, including entrance café, hair and beauty rooms, nurse and medical stations, communal rooms and lounges, dining rooms as well as shared communal terraces and gardens.

Construction is due to begin on the West End site in October 2023.
