An 80-bed care home with four extra care apartments for specialist care partner, Hamberley Development

Highwood is constructing a new 80-bed, high-end care home with four extra care apartments on the site of the former landmark Eastleigh Police Station building close to the Hampshire town’s centre. Alston House is being built for specialist care operator and established development partner, Hamberley Development.

Designed by RDT Architects, the integrity of the original Police Station, which was built in 1924 and is listed, has been retained and will become close care apartments, a family room, community shop and café.

A superbly appointed scheme

Specifically designed for elderly and dementia patients, the four-storey building will feature 80 en-suite bedrooms with exceptional communal living areas, dining rooms and quiet spaces.

Additional facilities will include a cinema room, gymnasium, dedicated activity areas, a hair salon, boutique café and wine bar. A private dining room for residents to enjoy intimate social occasions with family and friends also forms part of this superbly appointed scheme.

Despite a construction schedule that straddled the Covid pandemic, Alston House remains on course for completion in summer 2022.
