Highwood has completed the final phases of a project at Durrants Village on behalf of Inspired Villages Group (IVG). Durrants Village is set on 30 acres of idyllic private parkland with its own lake in the hamlet of Faygate and close to the market town of Horsham in West Sussex. The project has created 173 two and three-bedroom cottages and two-bedroom apartments that have now been handed over to IVG Retirement Villages.
We had already completed Phase 3A of this exciting project that involved the construction of 20 cottages under a traditional form of contract and which demonstrated our ability to produce the high standard of finish demanded by the client. The next phase of the project was subsequently negotiated and a design and build contract was awarded to Highwood to construct 24 apartments and 18 cottages.
Following our experience of the previous phase and our knowledge of timber frame construction, we proposed to construct the cottages in timber frame and the apartments in a traditional form of construction, which was considered and accepted by our client.
Highwood’s site team was expanded to manage the completion of the first phase and to then follow on to the second. Given the construction works were within the centre of an occupied care village, the site logistics were tightly managed to ensure the impact of the existing residents was minimised.
The construction management team worked closely with the village management team throughout the project to ensure any inconvenience or disruption to villagers was contained.
The entire Durrants Village project was successfully concluded in 2019 and duly handed over to IVG Retirement Villages who are proud of this exciting development of 173 exquisite two and three-bedroom cottages and spacious two-bedroom apartments.
