Durrants Village, Faygate, West Sussex

A collection of retirement cottages nestled in private parkland in Faygate.

Highwood is currently working on a project at Durrants Village on behalf of Renaissance Villages, a development subsidiary of Helical Bar. Durrants Village is set on 30 acres of idyllic private parkland in the hamlet of Faygate and close to the market town of Horsham in West Sussex.

We had already completed Phase 3A of this exciting project that involved the construction of 20 cottages under a traditional form of contract and which demonstrated our ability to produce the high standard of finish demanded by the client. The next phase of the project was subsequently negotiated and a design and build contract was awarded to Highwood to construct 24 apartments and 18 cottages.

With our knowledge of timber frame construction, we’ll construct the cottages in timber frame and the apartments in a traditional form of construction.

Following our experience of the previous phase and our knowledge of timber frame construction, we proposed to construct the cottages in timber frame and the apartments in a traditional form of construction, which was considered and accepted by our client. The second phase commenced in August 2017 and is due to complete December 2018.

Highwood’s site team has been expanded to manage the completion of the first phase, which is programmed for November 2017 and will then follow on to the second. Given the construction works are within the centre of an occupied care village, the site logistics have been tightly managed to ensure the impact of the existing resident is minimized; the construction management team have worked closely with the village management team to ensure this is the case.
