Case Study: Coppice Hill, Bishops Waltham

Highwood Group’s strategic land project at Coppice Hill in Bishops Waltham involved a close and detailed consultation with the town’s residents and its Parish Council to ensure our plans for a modest number of high quality houses on the greenfield site would be favourably received.

Bishops Waltham is set in the Hamble Valley at the tributary of the River Hamble and is a designated conservation area. With an interesting history and reminders of a once thriving 19th century market town, many Georgian and other listed buildings remain and contribute to the special character of this delightful, semi-rural community.

The demand for new homes in such a sought after small town called for a considered scheme so, in March 2014, the local parish held a public exhibition to consider where local residents would like to see housing and Highwood was delighted when residents voiced their support for our development.

Highwood worked closely with Winchester City Council and successfully convinced the authority to include the scheme on the draft and pre-submission plan.

The Coppice Hill site looks set to be allocated in 2016.
