Building homes, communities and futures since 1987

Case Study: Abbotswood, Romsey

Our project to build a 60-bedroom care home at Abbottswood in Romsey’s market town began in the summer of 2014 and has since become one of our most celebrated schemes to date. This was the fourth project that Highwood undertook with Hartford Care, our joint venture care partner, and we’re delighted to see how this remarkable development is continuing to change the lives of local residents for the better.

Abbottswood was a vast parcel of land extendng to over 50 hectares and sitting just a mile to the north-east of Romsey. The site’s masterplan included 80 residential units, offices, a community building and a convenience store and, of course, our high-end residential care home that would deliver specialist care and continuity for those in their later years.

This was indeed a dynamic scheme and the Abbottswood care home was integral to the new, rich community we knew would result from the build. Furthermore, our project generated significant interest and praise for the quality of specialist care we had proposed and for the new jobs that would result from the development. A story in the local Romsey Advertiser newspaper highlighted the positive reaction to the plans – you can read the article here.

In Summer 2015, right on schedule, we were proud to hand the new care home over for a grand opening that saw the ribbon cut by TV personality, Fred Dinenage, and many guests enjoying a fabulous day at Abbottswood.

The Abbotswood care home is now managed by Cinnamon.
