Highwood Group devised a superb scheme to build a 60-bedroom nursing home at a beautiful, semi-rural site in Fair Oak on the outskirts of Southampton, which would be developed by Highwood Construction and retained and managed by Cinnamon Care Capital, our joint venture care partners.
Fair Oak is a thriving village set close to Eastleigh’s market town and is a popular residential area. With views over open fields and the surrounding countryside, Highwood identified this as an opportunity to provide much-needed later years care for residents within the community and to enhance the site.
We submitted our plans to Eastleigh Borough Council in 2013 and consent was successfully granted. Construction began in 2014 on what was to be Highwood’s second project to be developed in conjunction with specialist care provider, Hartford Care, and was a perfect example of how we work to benchmarked standards of quality and performance throughout a project – as well as engaging with the local community whenever possible.
Indeed, in mid 2014, representatives from Highwood Group and Hartford Care visited schools opposite Sunnybank House along with safety mascot for the Considerate Constructors Scheme, Ivor Goodsite, to talk to children about the dangers of building sites and how to stay safe. The children were told about what life would be like at Sunnybank House when it opened and was covered in our news page.
In the autumn of 2014, this state-of-the-art care home opened its doors and welcomed its first residents. Sunnybank House is a beautiful, fully equipped care home, with specialist dementia and nursing care available to residents as required. Interest in this comfortable and very affordable care home has been high and Sunnybank House is filling fast.
