Highwood Group promoted a scheme to build 94 new homes in a residential development in Hedge End on land that lies south of St Johns Road and west of Foord Road. The scheme had been included in Eastleigh Borough Council’s pre-submission local plan 2011-29 and allocated for approximately 100 dwellings.
The land on which our project was sited was originally owned for four independent landowners and extended to some 15 acres. We identified an opportunity to build an exciting development of 94 individual new homes and approached Eastleigh Borough Council with our ideas and engaged with them to create a scheme that would meet the demands of the Council’s draft local plan as well as enhance this established residential area.
Having collaborated closely with the landowners, our land assembly acquisition was successfully concluded in 2013 when we submitted our planning application for 94 homes and our subsequent Reserved Matters application, both of which were successfully approved and we then began to actively promote the site.
We also wanted to engage closely with the local community on this project and held a public exhibition in 2013 to enable local residents to see our plans and have their say on our proposals. We were pleased for the opportunity to hear their opinions, which we pleased to consider when we drew up our plans for the new development.
With planning now successfully secured, construction on the St Johns Road site will begin in 2015.
